Delta Touch Faucet

I do a lot of work for contractors that renovate kitchens.  Most of the time I work straight for the home owner on a referral basis.  Last week I did one particular installation for a new kitchen where they decided to use the Delta Touch Kitchen faucet.

This is about the tenth Delta Touch faucet that I have installed.  Compared with the first one there has been a few small changes.  The system now uses double A batteries instead C batteries.  As with anything things get easier with practice.  The first time I installed one of these it must have taken me about an hour and a half.  Now I can install one in about a half hour.

Pull Out Faucets

Instead of the vegetable sprayer on the side of the kitchen faucet like there was for years you can now buy kitchen faucets that pull out and have a dual spray.  One spray for a regular stream and one spray for a wide stream.  These types of faucets have been around for about 10 years, but are much more common now.

There used to be a problem with the hose, after a year or so the hose would wear out from pulling the faucet out all the time.  But I have found that most are pretty good.

If you plan on buying a pull out kitchen faucet then you should consider a Delta, Moen, or Grohe.  There are many others but these are the best of all.

Regular Kitchen Faucets

A regular two handle kitchen faucet still works great.  If a pull out is not in your budget you can buy a two handle faucet for around $100.

Bathroom Faucets

There are many different styles of bathroom faucets.  Four inch centers, single hole, and eight inch centers are all standard sized basin taps.  The eight inch faucets are the most difficult to install.  This is because the faucet handles and spout sit on top and the rest of the body is below the counter.

The newest type of faucet is the water fall kind.  Instead of the regular spout this faucet flows down the trough into the sink.  These are becoming very stylish.  I installed two last week in a house that had no shutoff valves so I had to shut off the main and I installed shutoff valves.  Then I installed the faucets and turned the water back on.  Before I could get back up stairs to test the faucet the home owner decided to turn on the faucet.  Since there was air in the system the water shot out instead of flowing out and soaked the homeowner.

I knew this would happen as I had a similar experience a few years back, lol.  I really wish he would have let me bleed the air out before he soaked himself, but he was ok with the whole thing.  And once the air was out he loved the flow.  If you decide to install one of these yourself then when you first turn on the faucet put a towel over the spout so you don’t get soaked, lol.
